Oliva applied for the student success fee with advisors Dr. Koko Nishi and Dr. Zemed Berhe whom she had met through the SDSU Women of Color Empowerment Group. Together, they planned to create an inclusive and affirming experience for students of color to feel empowered in their identities. She proposed a first gen series to host distinguished alum Dr. Angela Byars-Winston, Author Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez, and Award winning researcher Dr. Candice Nicole Hargons to visit campus and share their experiences and insight as women of color in academia. Her proposal was accepted in the highest funding category that student success fee grants to student projects. She will be hosting her proposed events in Spring 2023.
